always the guinea pig, never the experimenter

i started my voluntary internship at cheo today. this morning i forgot to print out the bus route i needed to take, but luckily for me hospitals are landmarked on the transit map. anyway, i met everyone in the pr department except the director. i think she stayed home because of the freezing rain - my dad has a tendency to do that.. so they have three projects they want me to work on: a database of media contacts, create content for the website with information on childhood obesity, and the third one i don't know yet. apparently it's a project the director has for me, but no one really remembered what it was. i left half an hour later than i was planning on because they were using me as their guinea pig for a seminar they were going to have. basically they wanted to practice and make sure it made sense. thankfully the bus ride to school from there is less than 20 minutes, so it wasn't a big deal. i'm really excited about this. it totally sounds like it's going to be an interesting experience! the downfall is it seems like it will go by quickly. i only need to do 5 hours a week for 13 weeks, which is once a week for 3 months.. ah well, at least i'll get somw experience on my plate.

You know what would make interesting PR. Lining up hundreds of obese kids on parliament hill, then have them run screaming towards the parliament buildings in CHEO t-shirts with dollops of chocolate and cookie crumbs around their mouths.

Now that's publicity!
