called to vote

so i'm having a hell of a time choosing a name for my car. smarty-pants neesha suggested i have a vote from a list of the top names, so i'm stealing her idea. :)

so the top five names are .. *drum roll* (in no particular order of preference):
- stealth bomber (3)
- sybil (3)
- christine (2)
- pickle (7)
- bob (4)

(the numbers in brackets are currently the number of votes per name)

decisions, decisions :S

i've gotten SO MANY name suggestions for my car! i couldn't believe it.. here's the list:

jayna - bumper buddy
preyan - stealth bomber
urvesh - rotlimobile, ram pyaari
rob - gertrude
kenny - got back
risha - funkstaaa
milan - grey venus
ritesh - high insurance bitch, chokri (gujarati for girl)
tuyen - the silver bullet
sonal - triple g (ghetto gujarati girl)
tom - silver streak, grrr
greg - the lady in grey, car
kelly - beanmobile, bob
paul - sybil
jen - pickle
matt - star dust, christine

it's a difficult decision, so i'll hopefully have chosen a winner by tomorrow.

one of the things i considered was getting a personalized licence plate with the name on it, but it turns out my dad may be donating the plates on his car to me, which would now be more appropriate for me to have!

my desk threw up

at work, my desk looks like it partied too hard with booze and hoochies - it looks totally wrecked! i have too much stuff piled on my desk.. and i even had it all organized last week into nice little piles. i have print outs of stuff floating everywhere, a whole bunch of HUGE sheets of proofs lying all over, various kinds of samples i took from people (and have yet to return..), and projects put on hold or waiting to be reena-fied.

yesterday i went to work early and came home late, which apparently is typical when tradeshows are around the corner. i don't mind, though i think my manager feels a little guilty. actually he feels more guilty when i use my car for something work related because i'm leasing.

i'm going home this weekend!! very exciting because i miss my bed. oh how i *heart* my mattress.. my little cousin is coming with me since it would ease all the parental units (aunts & uncles included) nerves if i had someone else in the car with me while i drive. she wants to get her nose pierced, so we'll see if we can get it done despite her only being 14. i'm sure i could get away with being her "guardian" if need be, but i'm sure she can pass off as a 16 year old.

first car, first speeding ticket

i got a pulled over.. for the first time EVER. i've been driving for over 8 years and i get a speeding ticket four days after getting my car. the whole situation was ridiculous. the cop showed me the radar and said you were doing 90 in a 60 zone. what?! the most i could have been doing was 80. according to my dad, there's a hill and that's where they stand all the time to fill their quota. so the cop gave me my ticket. he said he's reducing it to only 15 over the limit rather than 30, so i won't be given any demerit points (for 30 over the limit it's 5 points). ah, boo. at least the cop was cute..

welcome a new family member

i'd just like to introduce to you all a new member of the family: my car, very exciting :)

my baby girl needs a name, so this is where you all come in. i'm having a naming contest and obviously every contest comes with a prize.. so i'm offering a free dinner to the person who submits the best name! submission deadline is monday, august 21st.

to those needing inspiration, here are a few details:
* she's a 2006 pontiac pursuit
* the colour is called stealth grey
* i consider the car female, and no i'd rather not keep calling it "baby girl" cause that's just ghetto :)
* dad bought his first car (which was new) when he was 24 as well, AND it just so happens that car was a pontiac
* names that are currently in use or retired: sweetheart, lunchmobile, the boat
* i'm leasing the car and plan on giving it back in 3 years, so no i will not be running it into the ground :P

let the contest begin!

concussions are fun

work is going great. it's getting busy though since there are two tradeshows coming up. i have the joy of designing posters for the booth, redoing the website basically from scratch, putting together a newsletter, ordering brochures, designing product line stickers all for september. that's not much. BUT in the mean time, new products are coming out so i'm designing new product labels, taking pictures, creating ads, and videos! it's so relieving to find work never boring! and as usual there's the typical drama that happens at the office, but it keeps it interesting.

yesterday while getting off one the buses i had the most wonderful experience of having the doors slam into my head. i now have a bump over my right eye to remind me that it's necessary to always hold the doors open!

it's hard to please superman

it's big news at burger king when superman is a dissatisfied customer.

my parents are here tomorrow!

i don't think i've ever really missed my parents as much as i do now. with an aunt who's constantly chipping away at my sanity and an uncle who, if he wasn't so religious, i would think he'd be an alchoholic or something by now - it's no wonder i miss home! i'm not homesick - just randomly missing home. anyway, i'm just glad my parents and my brother will be here until monday.. at least there's one good thing about there being a wedding this weekend.

WORK! work is awesome! i'm really liking my job. i got to create my first actual advertisement today. i've made three product labels so far. made two product line labels. yesterday i got to experience the "glamourous" side to marketing. i had to take pictures of one of the products - adhesive for hardwood floors. so my manager gave me two boxes of pre-finished hardwood floor to set up (to place the pail on) and told me to have fun! heh, great - on a day where it's freakin' hot outside so i decide to wear a skirt to work. at least i was on my own in the big boardroom so i couldn't accidentally flash anyone.
