watching the videos i took i forgot a wedding story! so no one tackled me for dharmeshbhai's shoes (*phew*). i gave the shoes to my dad, who kept them in front of him for a while then he walked away. ack! not good. unguarded shoes is a dangerous thing. so then i took his shoes and moved them under the bench where the grannies were sitting. haha, no one would dare go near there. at some point near the end of the wedding, one of my aunts noticed a little girl coming by to where the grannies were sitting, picked up a shoe, looked at it, then walked away with it. oh dear. turns out, it was the wrong shoe. they took one of alan's shoes and not dharmeshbhai's.. hahahahahahaha :) they eventually gave his shoe back after trying to squeeze some money out of him (that's a challenge in and of itself..).
india 2007: back in canada
so i'm home! finally.. by monday i was totally ready to go home. i don't know if it was the amount of travelling we did during the 10 days we were there, but i was definitely ready to get home, have a shower, and lie in bed.
sunday was dharmeshbhai's wedding. it was CRAZY! he arrived in a horse drawn carriage, we had a live band with us while we walked to the wedding hall, there were fireworks! FIREWORKS! and the food! so much food. i graduated from "eating like a fat kid" to "use a crane to move" status. i have everyone's pictures and i took video bits of the wedding, so those will be posted this week.
despite it being their cold season, i still found it ridiculously hot! i couldn't bear the heat by midday. ugh.. i totally wished i could have walked around in a skirt, but that was not possible.
i unfortunately didn't get any personal shopping done :( two days were taken shopping for saris, bangles, and jewellery for tina and i to wear at dharmeshbhai's wedding. *sigh* oh well.
what else, what else. i can't think right now. sleeeeeeeppppyyyy..

india 2007: in case of an emergency..
i forgot to mention one amusing aspect about our flight from mumbai to bangalore (and back). at the end of the safety schpiel mum commented on how they didn't do the floatation vest demo in case we crash land over water. she didn't realise they sort of did.. the vest demo was given to those sitting in first class. however, for us schmoes in economy class, if we were to crash land over water our seat cushion can be used as a floatation device. the flippin' SEAT CUSHION!!! hahahahaha, we couldn't get over how ghetto that was.

india 2007: this is your captain speaking..
so i'm in india! ack, it's interesting. haven't been in 12 years.. things have changed - like the bathrooms!! the "western" style bathrooms are slowly popping up everywhere.. even off highway stops. so far, i've been able to avoid the traditional (hole in the ground) one *phew*
the flight was good. each seat had a screen with a remote control/game controller. i managed to freeze the screen and restart the system on my seat.. on both flights. haha :)
mum: what's that steward's name?me: kumal..mum: oh.. he's probably punjabi *sigh*
only a mother would constantly be on a husband hunt for her daughter.. by the way, we won't tell her i checked him out as well (is it sad i have the same taste in guys as my mother?!)
mum, my aunt, and i flew into mumbai and met my dad at the airport. since we arrived saturday at like 2am, we stayed in a hotel for the night, went to mum's uncle's house for lunch the next day, then flew to bangalore to see were dad's new digs. on the flight to bangalore, one hour flight by the way, they served snacks. snacks! and not just a pack of pretzels.. noooo. it was the equivalent to a proper meal. sandwich, samosa, pakora, cake, oh my! dad's apartment is nice, but it's only temporary. he moved into a two bedroom flat because we were coming to visit. he's looking for a decent place that's not near the centre of town. because omigod, TRAFFIC! so much traffic! i really shouldn't complain about toronto traffic after this, but we all know i still will. sunday we went to mysore for some sight-seeing. the palace there was really pretty! monday we paid a visit to dad's office - his office is HUGE! got a tour, then went sari shopping :) at night, we went to a "high class" restaurant for dinner in a ridiculously fancy hotel. the cost of dinner for four? less than $80CAD! seriously..
today we fly back to mumbai, then head over to a city in gujarat. not sure what the plans are from there, so we'll see.
