ain't no betsy ross

i bought a new phone! nokia n95 8gb :) i think i already said that before.. it's been two weeks and i'm still psyched over it. my biggest complaint is nokia's compatibility with macs.. it's almost non-existant! just for a flippin' software update, i need to use a pc because it resets and wipes out the phone memory (not the mass memory) every single time, so updating over wifi would never be an option (and they don't have the application for macs). and the map uploader is pc only.. grr. that was the other thing, the phone has gps! i was a little disappointed that turn-by-turn navigation was a service you had to pay for through nokia, until i got some sense and remembered how in order to get up-to-date maps for gps systems, you have to pay for it. so either buy your maps and get free turn-by-turn navigation.. or get free maps and pay for turn-by-turn navigation. since that would only really be useful in europe, i'd rather the latter.

anyway, i'm in an experimental mood. i decided i'm going to make a cover for my phone. people asked, "why don't you just buy one?!" cause that's not entertaining, of course. where's YOUR head?

so i've so far made two different covers:

attempt #1

this was an interesting one.. it's the shape i like - it definitely needs cardboard in it to make it stiff and sturdy. as it is right now, it looks like a maxi pad.. (aka. sanitary napkin). haha, oh dear.

attempt #2

this one doesn't remind me of anything i'd find in the bathroom. actually, this one's not bad considering:
- i don't own a sewing machine
- i don't sew

anyway, i really like the fabric i chose for this - the blue fabric is SO soft. i think i may try a couple of more phone cover experiments with these two fabrics. who knows, maybe i might actually make something truly useable!

Making a cover for your phone? This doesn't sound like lazy reena! I guess this is what one does for fun when one lives alone in a 4-bedroom house in Brampton? ;)
