swingers clubs are perfectly legal
the supreme court has ruled that swingers clubs are perfectly legal because these clubs are not collecting money for any sex acts. if they were, then it would be charged in regards to prostitution. [link]
anyway, the ctv.ca site always has a poll. today's poll asked: do you agree with the supreme court of canada decision that says swingers clubs are perfectly legal? as of 11:30pm, 63% (8358 of 13279) voted no. i'm REALLY surprised by that. how can people be bothered by this? if all parties are consenting adults AND no one is being hurt then who really cares what they are doing behind closed doors. now, bring kids in the picture or rape then yes, whatever they're doing would be illegal. but like they said in the article, all acts were done behind closed doors so you'd have to be allowed into the club to even be exposed to it. i'm shocked by the level of conservatism shown. to those who voted no, i say, "who the fuck cares if they're swinging or having orgies. are you just jealous you weren't included?"

I think maybe I have turned more conservative than I used to be, at least in a social sense...
I have a bit of a problem with this. What kind of image as a society does that send to children? What happens to a kid whose parents are going out to a "club" dressed in leather and/or skimpy outfits? I met a guy who talked about his mother sleeping around and seemed to be pretty scarred by the idea. Even if people only did this sort of thing pre-having-kids, these things tend to come out eventually and people find out about them... it leaves a mark. Kids, more than anybody else, are great at finding out or knowing what their parents are doing or have done.
Not direct harm, but there is such a thing as indirect harm and that's where a lot of traditional conservative morals come from...
yeah, but you can't prosecute something because of indirect harm, or the possibility of. i guess i'm still at a stage where i believe in negative rights...
