fake eyes

i heard back from a customer service rep for chappell studio about my picture at convocation (the one with my eyes closed). they pointed out that the picture was discounted by 25% and, if i wanted, i could get the image digitally corrected for a low price of $25! the discount doesn't even cover the fee on their most expensive package. with the digital correction my eyes would be open for all pictures ordered. so for the cheapest option, i'd end up spending $32.50 before tax just to have a picture with my eyes open (i could save a whole $0.33 after canada day if i wait for the reduced gst..). i'm kind of curious to see what they think i look like with my eyes open.. but i'm not willing to spend the $25 to do that.

i wouldn't have ordered the pictures to begin with for only one reason: there's no cap! so why all the fuss? procrastination.

money goes so quickly..

i've finally starting packing for my move to toronto. thank goodness it's summer because i only need one large suitcase and a rolly suitcase to take with me. i bought almost an ENTIRELY new spring/summer wardrobe in $800 (including the $300 gift certificate). my totally new haircut i got for convocation almost rounds up the package. all i really need to do now is work on the make-up aspect and i'll be able to say i've given myself a makeover!

speed bump

yeah.. kids in my suburb really don't have anything better to do with their time. after all, we have to find fun things to do since (as my oac chemistry teacher assumed we spent our time doing) sniffing pam (the cooking spray) in the fields gets rather boring after a while.. [/sarcasm]

and for a little change of pace: cats that look like hitler. :|

fajita night is back! .. sort of.

i miss having a fajita night once a term.. those were always good fun. i had a barbeque tonight instead. it turned out pretty well considering dad's out of town on business, my brother was at work, so it was just mum and i doing all the preparations and cooking. tandoori style chicken is dad's territory, but since he's not here mum and i had to recreate it. apparently we made it just like he does except not as spicy. mum and i had problems getting the barbeque lit in the first place, but after a few tries we got it going!

the most entertaining part of the night was the son of our backyard neighbour. he would appear at the back window at their kitchen sink from time to time looking over at our party. i guess it didn't help that whenever he appeared at the window that we'd all look over his way! apparently katie and liz know him from high school. according to them he's hot but arrogent. i had to totally disagree on the hotness factor, but they would too if they had to see what i see on a regular basis. the guy stands out on the back deck in the mornings smoking with his bathrobe open to show only his boxers. blah. i'm sorry but that's not hot.. that's stepping on gigalo territory.

i find a little giggle-gas before i begin gives me immense pleasure

"I am your dentist. And I enjoy the career that I picked. I'm your dentist. And I get off on the pain I inflict!"

my mouth hurts. actually, my gums hurt. i went to the dentist today.. haven't been in 1-1/2 years :S my mum had me put on the waitlist for any cancellations this week because she was insistent that i get my teeth cleaned before i moved to toronto. the hygienist was so rough! i've had a total of ten teeth pulled to date and i've never felt the kind of pain i did today! and it was only a regular check up/cleaning today :S i had a bit of tartar on my teeth, not a ridiculous amount.. but her scraping was so painful! my eyes even started to tear up.

hygienist: how often do you floss?
me: not often enough..
hygienist: well you're paying for it now, aren't you?

oh dear god that hurt. at least i got a new toothbrush and a packet of floss..

worst pictures ever..

and people wonder why i don't like being in front of the camera! the first two pictures were taken by graduation images at the convocation; the last one was taken by dad, who took so long to take the picture that he captured the weird face i was making.. i'm a little annoyed by the first one. she took the picture, checked it on her camera, then said okay. her display on the camera wasn't so small that she couldn't have noticed my eyes were closed! what the fuck.

my dad is crazy

saturday's pot for the 6/49 is $16 million. big money indeed. my dad is slightly convinced that with 30 weeks of past numbers a person can figure out a pattern and determine the next set of numbers to appear. ha! no. "you know, if i win the $16 million then i could buy you a BRAND NEW audi and a 3 bedroom condo in toronto." ha!

the great bedroom clean up

i have about a week to clean up and clean out my room, which will be quite the job! throw out torn clothes, give away old clothes, and pack good clothes. *sigh* not only that, i have to clean up my desk, organize my bookcase, and throw out any useless items i no longer need. bah.

what to do.. what to do..

this morning i made phone calls to the different transit options in toronto to find out the quickest route to the workplace from different locations. it looks like i'll be moving in with my uncle in thornhill for the first three months because that's only a 45 minute direct bus ride to rexdale. *sigh* it's good because i'll have my own room. it sucks because of three reasons: no wifi, lack of good tv channels, and my aunt & uncle are religious folk.

the 'no wifi' issue can be fixed. i'll just have to make my cousin buy a wireless router and card for himself because i don't want to be confined to his room in order to use the internet.

lack of good tv channels.. this only bites during the day when i would have nothing better to do. also, their taste in television is somewhat different to mine. at least my cousin is totally into lost. well, the plan is to get a place of my own before the seasons premieres start in october!

the last is a little tricky. my aunt and uncle are very religious, so part of their weekend routine is to attend religious activities on sundays (sometimes saturdays). that means i'm going to have to find an activity to pass my time. my mum suggested i take a class or something since seneca and york aren't far from my uncle's house. or take up a sport again, but soccer leagues have already started their season. *sigh*

it's official!!

i'm now a graduate :) this is VERY exciting! yesterday afternoon i got my hair cut (pretty short..) and bought a skirt (yes, a skirt) to wear. it's almost as if i had a makeover.. the ceremony took place at 7:30pm which sucked because i didn't get a chance to eat something before the ceremony. my stomach was rumbling for the full 2-1/2 hours. i'm just glad i didn't trip over myself while walking across the stage. my biggest disappointment of the night? we didn't get to wear a cap! i wanted a cap.. sure i got to wear and keep the cap for high school, but that's high school. anyway, i'm just glad it's now official - i can now write on my resume "RECEIPIENT of a bachelor of commerce honours".

i'd post up a picture, but i was so tired they didn't turn out very well.

the triple sixes are following me..

today i graduate! and i still have no idea what i'm going to wear..

may i introduce to you..

lola is sarah p.'s new kitty! she's so small, less than 1 pound in weight. sarah just got her on friday, so the theme on saturday night was "lola's so cute! and we still love you lenny!" lenny is sarah p.'s old cat who feels lola is taking over precious territory. ah well, i'm sure they'll learn to co-habitate eventually.

i knew it!

the company downtown sent me an email saying, "After very careful consideration and reviewing the results of the testing which you completed, I do not feel that this position would be a good fit for you at this time." i knew it!

i had the third round interview at the chemical company, which was a test. one part was a number sequencing and simple math test. there's one question i couldn't figure out and it's bugging me. what's the next number in this sequence? 70, 60, 51, 43, 36. i'm now thinking the answer may be 20..

on a total unrelated note, today on the highway i saw a very geeky car with a licence plate: 10010110.
