i was curious because apparently these pictures are viewed as offensive by some women! on wednesday, one of the group presentations for consumer behaviour was about misandry (hatred for men - yes i learned a new word!). they compared it to how there would be an uproar for a poster that said "girls are stupid, throw rocks at them!" despite the fact there hasn't really been any negative reaction to the boys pictures. according to their research misandry isn't very effective at altering consumer behaviour.

personally i think it's effective if your actual product is misandry (basically the two pictures) because it can coexist with products promoting "girl power". if you're using misandry as your creative theme for your promotion strategy then it obviously will not be very effective (because the connection between the theme and the product isn't very clear or is too outlandish for someone to even consider it appropriate).

wow, i just took the fun out of these pictures..
