the italian job
yesterday i had to call a magazine in italy regarding artwork for one of our ads. a last minute deal allowed us to put the ad in their upcoming issue, for which the artwork had to be submitted that day (yesterday). yikes indeed. the ad was done, just needed to be translated into italian. luckily, the magazine was nice enough to have their technical director translate it for us (ah the wonders of email makes this process go so quickly..). in the end, the resulting
file size is 27mb, which is small compared to some of my other projects. so i call up the sales manager to ask how i can get the file to them since the file is too big to email.
after a number of different attempts, i finally got the artwork to them this morning. note to self for future international phone calls.. always think in the literal sense.

italy: no, your file size is alright. i have it here.
me: what i mean to say is the new artwork file is too big. it's 27 megs.
italy: the artwork here is the right size.. 151mm x 232mm
i now understand the problem.. *sigh* language difference
me: the file is too big for me to email.
italy: AH, the file is too HEAVY.
me: YES! the file is heavy *giggles*
